John C. Russotto, Ph.D.

Dr. Russotto offers psychotherapy to children, adolescents and adults. In addition, he provides clinical case consultation to mental health professionals seeking licensure in Virginia and the District of Columbia. He has been in practice for over 30 years.
Dr. Russotto works in an intense partnership with clients to help them understand and resolve persistent and recurring problems with relationships, work, self-esteem, self-destructive behaviors, and capacity for pleasure. He specializes in working with survivors of emotional trauma.
He uses psychodynamic techniques informed by the latest research in neuroscience. Cognitive and behavioral techniques are used with trauma victims. Dr. Russotto takes into consideration each client's biological, psychological, social, environmental, cultural, and spiritual endowments as he develops an individualized treatment plan.
